TCC Uruguay’s Evolution from Network Operator to Content Provider
About four years ago, Uruguayan cable company TCC took the unprecedented step of shifting its focus from being a network operator to pioneering service innovation in content distribution.
The change in strategy, as well as the challenges and opportunities it presents, is explained by Javier Ruete, CEO of TCC, in a new video case study.
A Single, Intuitive Viewing Experience
TCC has been a leader in Pay-tv services in Uruguay and the Latin American region for more than 18 years, integrating content and entertainment technologies.
The Company’s mission is to provide a single, intuitive viewing experience that anticipates what consumers want to watch and offers them the ability to view their chosen content on their preferred device, whenever they choose. To support this vision, TCC has expanded its arsenal with the addition of a new TCC Vivo over-the-top (OTT) Video on Demand (VOD) service, which is delivered through DVB-Hybrid set top boxes (DVB-C + OTT) and is accessible by tablets, smartphones, PCs and Macs.
The video case study details how TCC has been able to achieve seamless integration of linear channels with operator VoD, PVR content and OTT services, while ensuring the highest level of content and revenue security, with Verimatrix as the single security provider. The video also outlines the importance of a scalable and flexible technology partner ecosystem, which enables TCC to scale to new markets and platforms, lower total cost of ownership and remain innovative in offering new services to attract new an retain existing customers.
