Frequently Asked Questions

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an update to the existing rules for the protection of personal data of individuals within the EU. The aim of the GDPR is to strengthen the protections of personal data considering the evolution of technology and the increasingly complex and ubiquitous processing of that data.

When does GDPR take effect?

The regulation was adopted in April 2016 and becomes enforceable from May 25, 2018.

Who does GDPR affect?

Anyone with a business entity in the EU, and more importantly anyone who processes the personal data of individuals within the EU, is subject to the regulations of the GDPR. That means, for example, that any video service provider who provides services to individuals within the EU, even if that video service provider is located outside of the European Union, is likely subject to the regulation.
