VCAS 3 Solution Benefits
VCAS 3 provides a solid architectural basis on which to provide the full range of security service required for the proposed network, enabling the key aspects of the immediate and long term vision:
- Single security authority – The VCAS 3 architecture provides operators with a network and device independent security scheme that unifies the logic of subscriber management under a single interface. While Verimatrix takes care of the complexity of managing security issues, operators benefit from simplicity of operational configuration and an improved service offering to the consumer, who in turn has to worry less about what devices might be compatible with the video they have acquired rights for.
- Simulcrypt Security for DVB Services – VCAS enables setup of a parallel encryption system for DVB services that will enable deployment of ViewRight card-less security on new STBs without impacting the business associated with the installed base of legacy receivers.
- Single Security Client for Hybrid Services – The ViewRight STB client supports key management and decryption of both DVB and IP delivered linear and on-demand content. This software-based, single security approach saves operational complexity and cost, while adding revenue enhancement options.
- Cable IPTV as Standard – The VCAS IPTV solution supports both linear and on-demand IP services over cable plant, complemented by an extensive partner ecosystem.
- Card-less CA Swap-out – ViewRight DVB client technology offers a sophisticated software-based security system that can be used to upgrade legacy broadcast STBs where secure over-the-air code replacement is supportable. This permits CA swap-out without the logistics and cost of a smart card swap, while supporting a mix of card-less and card based security.
- Internet TV Services – VCAS supports authenticated and protected video service delivery to STBs, PCs and mobile devices over un-managed networks using adaptive rate streaming. This enables operators to reach outside current service areas, and to extend subscription services to users on-the-go through Wi-Fi and 3G networks.
- Extended in-home Video Support – Internet TV delivery techniques is a flexible way to deliver services to non-STB devices. Providing streamed services from the head-end, rather than transcoding locally, enables support of a much wider range of device screens, while avoiding network compatibility issues and high cost STB clients.
