Seamless IPTV Wholesaler/Retailer Integration
Verimatrix Remote Stream Manager (RSM) is an optional component within the Video Content Authority System (VCAS™). RSM optimizes IPTV wholesale/retail configurations by enabling seamless end-to-end encryption of broadcast channels combined with secure, locally-originated content. In multi-stage distribution architectures, IPTV retailers often require local control of subscriber authentication and an ability to combine community content with centrally-originated broadcast channels. RSM is a VCAS component that is designed to provide efficient caching of decryption keys for centrally encrypted content and an optimized distribution of the required broadcast decryption keys to all local set-top box (STB) and PC client devices.
RSM acts as a special category of client to the central VCAS encryption system and retrieves master broadcast keys subject to retailer entitlements set by the IPTV wholesaler. These keys are securely inserted within the local VCAS database to enable local key management to operate efficiently.
RSM extends the security perimeter of a multi-stage IPTV wholesale/retail distribution network by eliminating the requirement for local decryption and re-encryption at each retail site. This also eliminates the cost of additional equipment that otherwise would need to be purchased, operated and maintained by the local IPTV retailers.
