Revenue Security a New Emphasis for Pay-TV
Value proposition for operators extends beyond content protection security to enabling service growth
The need to secure and enhance revenue has never been more critical for pay-TV operators. They are looking to technology partners to underpin their fundamental operational and financial success at the same as supporting an increasingly broad range of content formats, delivery channels and target devices. IBC 2009

A recent series of growth success stories from our customers – TeliaSonera, KPN, BSNL, Belgacom to name a few – demonstrate how the right partner can help power a progressive pay-TV vision. This critical emphasis matches a key our presence at IBC 2009, where we will be profiling a new generation of VCAS solutions. The approach expands the boundary lines of the traditional conditional access domain, long focused on content protection, towards the broader perspective of revenue security.

Please stay tuned for more details on our VCAS 3.0 announcement at IBC.

The Great OTT Backlash

The current scramble to create video portal sites and offer juicy selections of over-the-top (OTT) content seems to have bypassed many of the normal sanity checks applied to media investments.

While jostling for technology leadership with the smoothest video delivery and flashiest user interface, the new landscape now has many pay-TV operators and even content providers trying to figure out, 1) how to position these new resources alongside more traditional delivery channels and, 2) if and how to generate incremental revenue.
